My husband made an appointment with this location provided all his dental insurance info for a preventive dental appointment for a annual cleaning and x-rays. Prior to his visit he received an call stating he had an 80.00 copay which was weird because usually for preventive visits under BCBS you pay a 10.00 co-pay and the services are covered 100% I advised my husband that I have never paid that large of a copay for cleaning and x-rays but he went to the appointment paid the 80.00 and they didn't even clean his teeth they proceeded to tell him he needed to get all this work done which total over 2300.00 and when he inquired about his cleaning they told him he would have to pay they told him he would be responsible for 80% of the charges and his plan only covered 20%. When he returned home we found his dental coverage info and they were indeed incorrect on everything, we called the insurance this morning who also confirmed and told my husband to file a claim to get the 80.00 back. The insurance company called the office and they doubled down as if the company doesn't no what benefits the member has. We did learn this office isn't in network which was never told to my husband after they verified insurance coverage which most providers will inform you of that and you make a decision if you want to go to an out of network provider. They are clearly doing something wrong and the insurance company agrees and told us to find another provider.
Response from the owner: Your INS policy pays percentages based off a lowered fee schedule, not our fee schedule which is why your copays are higher. This is also why you were informed of a copay before your appointment. Choices now include changing your INS policy, paying out of pocket completely or as you stated finding a different provider. All fees/coverage can be verified once you receive your EOB (explanation of benefits) from your INS company. Thank you for coming in.
